Veterinary Technician Position

 
 

Our full-time day technicians work Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (end time varies with the daily workload) with rotating on-call weekends. Our schedule is normally available one month in advance.

All applicants should have horsemanship skills as well as experience administering medication and treating equine patients with utmost care.

Skill Requirements:

  • Competent horsemanship skills (safe handling and restraint on ground)

  • Responsibility, punctuality and self-motivation

  • Ability to lunge and jog a horse during performance exams

  • Ability to hold/restrain a horse (all ages/disciplines) during examination

  • Have a valid driver’s license

  • Work well with others

Responsibilities of Technician Position

(All new technicians go through an initial on-site training period)

  • Assist Veterinarians with all assigned appointments

  • Maintain assigned veterinarians work vehicle with all necessary medications and equipment for the day’s workload

  • Set-up/break-down of diagnostic medical equipment both in hospital and ambulatory

  • Daily maintenance/sanitizing of diagnostic medical equipment

  • Preparation/administration of medications for patients both in house and ambulatory

  • Assist/Prepare/Label samples for laboratory testing which includes but is not limited to blood, feces, urine and/or tissue samples

  • Use of hospital management software to maintain hospital/patient records and billing for daily appointments and treatments
